WAILUKU BEACH – WAIEHU BEACH PARK

Waiehu Beach Park

Description of Waiehu Beach Park: The Waiehu Beach Park, located on the oustskirts of Wailuku, is a favorite of windsurfers, surfers, and body boarders. This is because of the waves that crash on the beach is perfect for beginners and those that want to try out the sport. Locals gather here from time to time and it is a known gathering place for those who want to try surfing and windsurfing. The Waiehu Pavilion is located here. This is why there is a regular weekend attendance here. During the summer months, you can find beginner surfers here learning the craft and some spectators since the waves are smaller and consistent. The winter months, however, attracts the more advanced surfers and windsurfers. This is because the waves are bigger during these months. Beginners should steer clear of venturing out into the water if the waves are like this. Swimming here is not really that good since it’s not very sandy in most places and there tends to be a number of seaweeds that are pulled from the shallow reef that is in front of the beach. The entryway is fairly rocky and the bottom has coarse sand and some protruding rock formations. However, if you are planning on a nice relaxing picnic with your family or friends, then this place is perfect for you. There are facilities that you can use here. You can use the BBQ grills and picnic tables that they have here. You can also see locals fishing here. This is also a great place to just sit back and enjoy the breeze and views.
