Description of Napili Bay: Napili Bay is one of the best beaches on Maui. It is famous for its golden white sand, crystal clear waters, and excellent snorkeling spots. During the summer months, this is a great place for snorkeling and swimming since it is calm. The middle part of the beach does not offer much for snorkeling. It is mostly sandy seabeds. However, if you swim to both ends of the beach, you will see rocky coral benches that have a variety of colorful tropical fishes. You can find Longnose butterflyfishes here along with some fantail filefishes. Taking pictures underwater is easy here. This is because of the excellent clarity here of the waters here. Visitors should keep a close eye on kids and people who are not good swimmers since the bottom gets deep quickly. There is a steep drop on the beach that will make you feel you missed a step on a staircase. Parents should be extra careful since children can find themselves in deep water at short notice. The winter months bring a new level of danger on this beach. The calm Napili Bay sometimes turn into a rough beach with large shorebreaks. beginner swimmers should avoid going in the water during this time. When the waves are bigger and rougher, surfers and bodyboarders flock this beach. During this time it’s not uncommon to see a couple of surfers riding the waves and having fun. It may look easy but always remember that they have trained for a long time for this and if your skills are not up to par then you could get hurt here.
