Guests staying in Makena don’t have to worry about running out of things to do. There are plenty of Makena Things to Do that are available. Whether you like to have fun in the water or prefer to do inland activities, there’s always something for you to do here. Makena has some of the best beaches in Maui. If you want to try surfing or body boarding you can head to Makena Beach or more specifically, Big Beach. On the right day, the waves here are perfect for surfers and body boarders. Swimming is not advised here since the shore break is pretty brutal. It is, however, perfect for lounging in the sun. With its wide expanse of fine golden sand and almost a mile long length, it is big enough for you to find a spot and set up camp for the day. If you want to check out the underwater beauty of Makena then just to the North of Big Beach you will find Makuala Beach, an ideal place for snorkeling with Turtles. This beach is more commonly known as Turtle Town because of the numerous Hawaiian Green Sea Turtles that visit it the area.

You can also drive a couple minutes to Kihei or Wailea and join the many organized tours departing from there. You can join a whale watching tour if you want to get close to Hawaii’s seasonal visitors, the North Pacific Humpback Whales. There are also snorkeling tours that let you visit and snorkel in Molokini. There are also luaus near Wailea that you can choose from if you’re looking for an evening activity.
