Lokelani is quaint direct oceanfront 2.5 story vacation rental complex located right in the heart of Honokowai. Most of the units at Lokelani are fee simple ownership but there are some leasehold properites. There is a year round beach that is directly to the north of Lokelani and access to this beach is easily made by a couple steps with and a railing leading down to this small, yet gorgeous beach. Lokelani has fantastic year views of both Molokai and Lanai island, year round sunsets, and is fantastic for whale watching.

Properties very rarely ever come up for sale in Lokelani (last sale was in 2015) which generally indicates that the owners who own there, absolutely love it. This is also amplified by the fact that it is such a small complex and thus naturally there is a lower occurrence of turn over. Lokelani is a very quiet resort so it generally does attract a more mature demographic or at least one that highly covets solitude. If you are looking for a large resort with a lot of amenities, this is not the spot for you. More Information About Lokelani

Lokelani Location

Lokelani, which means “Beautiful Rose” in Hawaiian, is a low-rise low-density oceanfront complex that sits well back and down a small road from the lower Honoapiilani Rd, which greatly reduces road noise. Lokelani is located between Hale Ono Loa to the South and a few residential homes directly on the road and then the adjoining Hale Mahina Resort to the North. The most desirable aspect of ownership at Lokelani has to be the access to the small beach which adjoins in and the neighboring Hale Mahina Resort. The entry to the water is very calm and inviting unless there are large winter surf swells. The swimming, kayaking, and stand up paddling are absolutely fantastic right out front of the resort.

Lokelani Property Improvements

The Lokelani complex has a very formidable seawall that was completely reconstructed back in 2015 and thus, the structural integrity of the property facing the shoreline is heavily fortified and in exceptional condition. The building is very well kept and it appears that the asphalt composition roof was replaced in the recent past as well. The onsite resident manager keeps very close tabs on everything at the complex.

The vast majority of the units have split air conditioning units as there is no central air conditioning for the buildings. Split systems are extremely efficient, can be controlled independently by room, and are much classier location than in wall/window box units.

Lokelani Amenities

The pool at Lokelani is nothing spectacular and is located on the mountain of the complex (the parking lot side rather than the ocean side) but is a nice place for a dip as well as a nice place to enjoy the sun and read a book. The association recently completed some work on this pool.

There are oceanfront BBQ grills on each side of the grassy lawn out front of the complex.

The oceanfront lawn at Lokelani is not easily accessed unless you are staying at the resort or the adjoining one, Hale Mahina as there is a locked combo gate between the mountain side pool area and the oceanside lawn. The beach is not private as none in Hawaii are but it is not easy to get to it or well known if you are staying in direct proximity to it.

Lokelani Vacation Rentals

There is no onsite management company for Lokelani and thus the owners who do rent their properties while not occupying them do so on their own or rent independent management companies. With this, the property is highly desirable and some very considerable rents can be obtained.

Lokelani HOA Fees

The HOA fees at Lokelani are very reasonable at less than $.95/sq.ft. of interior living area but do not cover electric costs so you will want to budget for this. The complex doesn’t allow pets of any kind.

The ground floor units are all one bedroom one bath residences of about 600 sq.ft. plus a covered lanai leading right out to the grassy lawns.

The second story units are all two bedroom units of roughly 1,110 sq.ft. with the living area and kitchen located on the lower level with its own private lanai and either a half or full bath. Both bedrooms are located upstairs with the bathroom in between the mountain side bedroom and a very spacious oceanfront master with its own covered outdoor lanai. OWNERS AND GUESTS ALIKE LOVE THE FACT THAT THERE ARE TWO LANAI AREAS FOR THE UPSTAIRS UNITS.
