The region of Kahana is located between Honokowai and Napili on the western shore of Maui. The climate here is much cooler than what you will find farther down the coast in Lahaina. This region is a favorite of many Maui residents because of its beautiful views, cool temperatures, afternoon breezes and abundance of recreational opportunities. If you are interested in living on the west side of Maui you should definitely consider the region of Kahana.
“The Kahana Real Estate is some of the most sought-after Real Estate on the island of Maui. There are amazing view and fantastic properties that can be found here.”

One of the upsides of Kahana is that it is located right on the coastline. It takes a very short commitment of time to head to the beach for a quick dip, snorkel, surf or dive. Kahana is located very close to the shoreline communities of Napili, Kapalua, and Kaanapali. There is not a large number of beach options that are located right in Kahana, but if you include the nearby communities there are some great options for shoreline recreation and white sandy beaches to choose from.
The restaurants of Kahana are fairly limited because the area is relatively small. However, the selection that you can find here is adequate, and if you include the surrounding areas there are many great options that are sure to please even the pickiest of eaters. There are great seafood options, as well as many other types of cuisines that are sure to please your culinary curiosity.
The hotels of Kahana are mainly comprised of mixed-use condominium buildings that have units that can be rented by the night. Technically, many of them would be considered “bed and breakfast” units instead of hotels because they are located in mixed-use buildings. There are some great ocean views that you can find here, and the convenience to the ocean make for an ideal location for those who appreciate recreational activities in (or on) the water and would like to reside close by.
Things To Do In Kahana
Kahana is close to an abundance of recreational activities. Closeby you will be able to find many organized activities. You can zip line, you can go sailing, snorkeling, diving or whale watching. There is not a huge amount of activities that depart from Kahana propper, but you can easily access a plethora of activity options within a short drive of most Kahana residences.
Kahana does not have any golf courses that are located inside of the region. However, just South in the town of Kaanapali, you will find some great golfing options. A few minutes to the North in the town of Kapalua you will find what many people believe to be the best courses on the island where some of the largest Maui golf tournaments can be found. The winds can become a factor in the afternoons on both courses but nothing like you will find on the other side of the island when playing courses like the dunes at Maui Lani or the Elliar Golf Course in Kihei.
Kahana Vacation Rental
Most of Kahana’s places to stay are technically vacation rentals because they are located in mixed-use condominium buildings. If you are interested in staying in Kahana you will have easy access to the coastline, nearby organized vacation activities and beaches.
