Hookipa Beach Park is a favorite spot for surfers and windsurfers. During the winter months, the waves here are huge and it is not uncommon to see surfers out in the beach catching some waves. Going to the beach itself during this time can be dangerous since rogue waves can happen here. During the summer when waves are smaller, windsurfers come here.
This mile long beach is the largest beach in the north side of Maui. It stretches from Paia to Sprekelsville. This place is great if you want to get some alone time. There is also a great place for kids to swim in on the western tip of Baldwin Beach. Called Baby Beach because of the large, calm pool that lines the shore, this is ideal for those who want to have a relaxing swim. Although caution is still advised since the lifeguard is at the other end of the beach.
