Maui is often imagined as a tropical paradise but in it is also known as a hotspot of Golf enthusiasts. The Central Maui Golf courses attract avid golfers and novices alike. Central Maui is the isthmus of the West Maui mountains and Haleakala. This gives it amazing views of the of the islands topographical features which include the West Maui mountains and Haleakala.

 

The Central Maui Golf courses are situated on the slopes of the West Maui mountains. Wind is a factor during most days. You will need to use every bit of skill possible with each and every shot you take. Central Maui is home to a handful of championship golf courses. There are three Central Maui Golf Courses. The Dunes at Maui Lani has been described by many golf magazines as a must play for golfers visiting Maui. This course was designed by Robin Nelson. The Kahili Golf Course is here too. This course was designed by Robin Nelson and Rodney Wright. The course challenges players with elevation changes, water hazards, and dry creek beds. The most popular Central Maui Golf course is the King Kamehameha Golf Club. The layout of the course hugs the West Maui mountains and was designed by Ted Robinson Sr and refreshed by Ted Robinson Jr in 1991 and 2005 respectively. The course is built on the side of the mountains and the sloping fairways can be quite difficult to keep your shots from rolling off of.

Wailuku Golf Course – King Kamehameha Golf Course Clubhouse

This golf course was named after the greatest king in Hawaiian history. Although this course is private you can still play on it once. However, most golfers join the clubhouse just to play here. When you play here you will feel that nature and the course designer are going against you. This course uses the natural environment to test every one who plays here.
